Whilst no one coaching resource is affiliated with the HAA, there are a number of resources within the county available to coaches. Your County Coaching Organiser (CCO) and first point of contact is Mr. Stuart Barber and you can contact him here.
For 2024 we have a series of sessions and masterclasses for both archers and coaches, ranging from bow style masterclasses, an introduction to bow tuning, as well as introduction to clout and field shooting. Where appropriate, coach-orientated sessions such as coaching the visually impaired, or coaching those with autism and SEND, will contribute to CPD.
Considering becoming a coach?
If you're considering embarking upon a coaching course, the CCO will be able to let you know which courses are being run in Hertfordshire.
For those archers who may benefit from funding for such courses, please contact the Secretary for further information. Please note that funding is available upon successful completion of the course, providing the following conditions are met:
- The candidate applied for funding prior to beginning the course;
- The candidate's club endorses them as a candidate for the course;
- The candidate is a current paid-up member of Hertfordshire Archery Association at the point of successful course completion;
- The candidate is expected to contribute to at least one workshop offered as part of the Hertfordshire Coaching Programme (HCP)
Applications on the grounds of hardship will be made on a case-by-case basis.
SCAS Junior Coaching
As a member of the Southern Counties Archery Society (SCAS), all Hertfordshire juniors are eligible to participate in the SCAS Junior Academy. The pathway is designed for barebow, recurve, and compound archers.
