Junior Winter League Rules

All juniors shooting in league matches will be entered into both the winter team league and the individual league.

  1. The round will be a Portsmouth.
  2. The round will be postal.
  3. Teams will consist of any combination of archers for recurve, compound, longbow, and barebow
    • Longbow scores are increased by 40% of 600 minus their score.
    • Barebow scores are increased by 20% of 600 minus their score.
    • Compound will be deducted by 5%.
    • i.e. For BB if Max=600 and scored 400 they get 400 + ((600-400)*20%) = 400+40=440

Please apply rounding laws when working out handicap scores in the case of decimals.  E.g. Equal and above 5, round up; below 5, round down.

  4. Each match must be shot on a Club Target Day or at an official Tournament.  Proper scoring rules must be applied.  The best scores form each month may be entered provided proper rules of shotting have been adhered to.
  5. It is each club's responsibility to submit the scores for their juniors each month.
  6. Results will be awarded for the top 3 juniors scoring after alterations for bow style have been made.  Please make the adjustment in accordance to normal rounding rules before submitting scores.
  7. ALL SCORES MUST BE COUNTED for qualifying archers/numbers as rule 6 above.  All scores must be submitted for individual league tables.
  8. If the opposition fail to raise a Junior team, the result will be a win to the team participating.
  9. Points are awarded to teams as follows:
    1. A win carries 10 points, with the losing team getting bonus points for each archer (up to a maximum of 3).  This may encourage them to shoot even if they believe they are unable to win.
    2. Win = 10 points
    3. Draw = 6 points
    4. Loss = 1 point, plus 1 point for each archer up to 3 points.
  10. Results are to reach the organiser by the 7th day of the month following the fixture.  Failure to submit the result by this date will result in the match being awarded to the opposing team.
  11. All juniors shooting in the league may be issued with a league participation medal at the end of the season.  These are made and given out by each club.
  12. Hertfordshire must be the Archer's first named county.
  13. If an Archer changes clubs within the county after the start of the league season, they will not be able to compete for their new club for the duration of the current season.
  14. Only one score per archer will be accepted.
  15. For the purpose of the league to qualify to shoot in the Junior League archers will have to be under 18 at the end of the year, i.e. must still be 17 or younger on 31st December of the year the league starts.  However any junior may elect to shoot the entire league as a senior.
  16. Junior archers may compete in the Senior Frostbite League.
  17. The Organiser's decision is final.
